On June 20, 2024, Gustavo Borges spoke to the Artificial Intelligence Working Group of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), chaired by Justice Villas Bôas Cueva of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). We want to thank Councillor Luiz Fernando Bandeira and the Judge of the National Court of Justice, Roberta, for the invitation and the opportunity to participate in this important event.
Several renowned jurists and researchers attended the event, including Drs. Laura Schertel Mendes, Tainá Aguiar Junquilho, Alexandre Veronese, and Laura Porto. Also present were Assistant Judges of the CNJ Presidency, Judges, State and Federal Judges, CNMP Counselors, Researchers, Lawyers, Members of the Public Prosecutor's Office, and Public Defenders.
During the meeting, a national diagnosis on the use of generative AI in the Judiciary was presented, followed by deliberations on a draft resolution. The discussions also included defining the nature, program, and schedule of activities for an event to present and discuss the draft. Our representative, Prof. Dr. Gustavo Borges, also gave a workshop on the application of AI in European courts. The working group's schedule of activities was also updated to reflect the next steps.
LabSul's participation in this event reflects our ongoing commitment to technological innovation and ethics in using artificial intelligence in the judicial system. We thank all the participants and hope to continue contributing to the responsible advancement of AI in Brazil.
