On May 21, 2025, LabSul took part in the second public hearing held by the Communications Committee of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies (CCOM), as part of the discussion on Bill No. 2,628/2022. The proposal, authored by Senator Alessandro Vieira and reported by Deputy Jadyel Alencar, addresses the protection of children and adolescents in digital environments, bringing together representatives from civil society, academia, technology companies, and subject-matter experts.
Represented by its President and CEO, Gustavo Borges, LabSul presented key technical and legal contributions aimed at improving the legislative text. In addition to reaffirming the importance of regulating the matter—essential to ensuring child and adolescent safety and protection—the organization advocated for revisions to the bill’s wording to enhance legal precision and alignment with existing regulatory frameworks.
LabSul emphasized the need for adjustments to the bill’s text and content to ensure that fundamental rights—such as freedom of expression, access to information, culture, and leisure—are fully respected. The organization welcomes the democratic debate and the institutional openness fostered by Deputy Jadyel Alencar, recognizing the importance of developing legislation that upholds both constitutional and international human rights standards.
