On June 12, 2025, LabSul submitted its official contribution to the Public Consultation launched by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) regarding the proposed new Ordinance on the Rating Policy. The submission was delivered in person at the Rating Department (ClassInd) in Brasília, in a printed and compiled format, and was received by Eduardo Nepomuceno and Carlos Frederico C. R. Fortes, both members of the MJSP's Rating Policy Division. A digital version of the contribution is also being submitted via the Participa + Brasil platform.
The public consultation, organized by the National Secretariat of Justice (SENAJUS) and the Secretariat for Digital Rights (SEDIGI), is part of the “Growing in Peace” Strategy. It aims to update the public policy regulating the age classification of audiovisual content, now extended to include applications, social media, and digital platforms. The proposal seeks to enhance the protection of children and adolescents in digital environments, modernize internal procedures, and improve the effectiveness of monitoring potentially harmful content.
Grounded in the constitutional principle of the absolute priority of childhood, the draft ordinance seeks to align national rating policy with the challenges posed by new technologies, while safeguarding freedom of expression and updating the mandatory criteria and information provided to the public.
LabSul, committed to the protection of children and adolescents and to human rights in the digital age, recognizes the relevance of this participatory process and has contributed a technical and legal analysis aimed at the democratic enhancement of the proposal.
